The thing is that some of this stuff isn't exactly trash. It is family pictures, clothing, back packs, bibles, etc. that the people never intended on letting go of. But the trek gets hard and they have to start letting go of the things that were so precious to them.
The article even said that the groups find around 4,000 water bottles.
I say that instead of just throwing all that stuff away they should donate the usable clothes, books, back packs and stuff. And they could totally recycle the water bottles that are left behind. I'm sure the communities could even make a profit if they are that many water bottles lying around.
The pictures could be used as historical data eventually too, like at Ellis Island. Or a database could be set up so that the people could get their mementos back. I don't know I'm just brain storming here.
Sometimes you have to turn that frown upside down, especially if the issue is as complicated as illegal immigrants.
